NYC’s Major Subway Expansion Nearing Completion

The Upper East Side has long been famous for its expensive and luxurious homes. Not much has changed there in past years until recently. The biggest change occurring on the Upper East Side is its construction of the Second Avenue subway line. The completion of this project will mark the first major expansion of the New York City subway system in 50 years. Plans for the Second Avenue subway date all the way back to 1929. The extension of the subway line is predicted to be completed by December 2016.

The Changing Reputation of Murray Hill

The neighborhood of Murray Hill has long been known as the post-grad playground. Because of its slightly cheaper home prices than most areas in NYC, recent college graduates tend to flock to this area. Murray Hill, which spans roughly 85 blocks, has around 41,500 residents, many of which are recent college graduates and young professionals. Though a reasonably priced area and quiet oasis, its reputation generally kept away families and older generations. In recent years, however, there has been a huge change in the demographics of the area. Many families with young children appear to be moving to and remaining in this area, and this change has not gone unnoticed by longtime residents.

Manhattan's Growing Skyline

In wake of One57, West 57th Street is becoming the hotspot for residential development. With its ideal location to Central Park, it’s no surprise that developers are choosing this area for construction. There seems to be other factors as well, drawing people to this previously desolate site. The location of West 57th street is part of a special Midtown zoning district with no height restrictions. With that freedom, developers are taking their projects to new heights which means fantastic views of Central Park and the river, and wealthier buyers.

Mega Project Hudson Yards Residences Slowly Take Shape

Hudson Yards’ completion might still be a decade away, but with the way it’s currently rezoned, the project has the potential to introduce a considerable number of housing units.  As the redevelopment project is divided into two phases, the eastern phase will be completed first, opening two towers with residential units, 15 Hudson Yards and 35 Hudson Yards, by 2018.

Long-Awaited Sales to Begin at 15 Renwick in September

After about 8 years of stops and starts, sales of the luxury condos at 15 Renwick Street will finally begin in September. Up until recently, Renwick Street lagged behind its neighbors in terms of development. A tiny little north-south street sandwiched between Hudson Street and Greenwich Street, it was largely bypassed by the condo boom. If you’re in Google Maps, you have to zoom in pretty far for Google to even label it.
