This picturesque park formally served as a rail link between many of the meat distributors in the Meatpacking District. The last train rode on the rails in 1980 and the track sat idle for 26 years. This changed in 2006, when the groundbreaking of the new park was made by lifting a section of the railway. The park officially opened in 2009 and has quickly become one of the go to spots in New York City. Being as the park is elevated above street level, visitors are treated to a great view of Manhattan and the Hudson River.
