Heads up, apartment hunters—a striking new building is on its way to Chelsea, and this Manhattan luxury development looks like one to keep an eye out for. Developed by Blackhouse and Oriel, this impressive structure will be located at 522 West 29th Street and will contain 27 luxury condominiums. The 11-story building is being designed by SCDA Architects and has been named the Soori High Line.
If the renderings of the project are anything to go by, the Soori High Line promises to be an exciting addition to Chelsea’s luxury residential landscape. Its excellent location, which is steps away from the High Line Park, is going to be perhaps its most appealing feature. The proposed building looks very modern and imposing, and the designers claim to have employed an Asian aesthetic while crafting the project.
The Soori High Line is aiming to give its residents a resort-like feel to their residences, and that could perhaps explain the range of amenities they have planned for the building—these include private heated swimming pools, a library and a wine cellar. The apartments themselves boast of 18-foot ceilings, expansive spaces and custom furnishings, and we are particularly interested to note that the these homes will have fireplaces in the living rooms.
Given that Chelsea already has some of the finest luxury residences in New York City, the Soori High Line will need to pull out all the stops to make itself appealing to Manhattan’s jet-setters. Buildings like 133 West 22nd Street and 456 West 19th Street have already upped the stakes in the high-end residential market, and it’ll be interesting to see how this new development fares when compared to these existing buildings.
