Watch out Upper East Side, Midtown North is quickly building cachet as Manhattan’s destination for the jet set, spearheaded by 57th Street and Central Park South’s reclamation of the ultra-luxe seat.
JDS Development will offer select real estate brokers an exclusive invitation to preview the showroom of Billionaires’ Row addition 111 West 57th Street before the imminent sales launch. The development’s collaborators, JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group, project a $1.45 billion total sellout; apartments start at $16 million.
Renowned design firm SHoP Architects drafted 111 West 57th Street’s tapering design, and last month, the SHoP team released a photo of a mockup to their Instagram. The mockup showcased an excellent use of terracotta, glass, and bronze detailing. In addition to being one of the tallest buildings in the city, it will also be the world’s skinniest residential building, with a base-height ratio of 1:20. 111 West 57th Street is slated for a 2018 opening.
Meanwhile, 100 East 53rd Street just released renderings. Designed by Norman Foster, 100 East 53rd Street is characterized by the bevels of its glassy facade; and like other buildings of its caliber, this highly anticipated luxury building will offer a solid amenities package, including luxury standards like a private pool and artwork. Additionally, the bottom two floors will be dedicated epicurean pursuits, hosting a three-star restaurant and a food hall, according to 6sqft. These Midtown luxury condos feature a lot of modern and trendy interior design, showcasing white oak hardwood flooring, marble countertops, and window walls. RFR Realty is developing 100 East 53rd Street, which stands right next to the Seagram Building, another RFR–developed property. According to Curbed, “the light, glass-sheathed tower is meant to complement Mies Van Der Rohe's darker, iconic structure next door.” Apartments at 100 East 53rd Street start at $3.3 million.
