How About a Little Good News for Downtown Manhattan Real Estate?

Posted on Sun, 04-19-2009

As you may have gathered, we here at NCM like to spread , especially when it comes to the New York City real estate market. And, believe it or not, there's always good news to be found. Take the Downtown 2020 report--funded by the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute and Baruch College’s business school -- for instance. The report combines predictions of a financially resurgent downtown with ideas for making the most of lower Manhattan... pretty broad and varied ideas, actually. The researching professors' recommendations include adding an office district on one side of the new World Trade Center... and a nightlife district on the other side. Others hope to focus on adding libraries and family shops instead of more and more nightclubs. So, two takeaways from this report:

  1. Lots of very smart people predict a stronger and stronger lower Manhattan as time goes on.
  2. Many of them disagree on just which kinds of establishments should be apart of that stronger downtown.

All in all, sounds like good news to us. Speaking of good news, we've got all sorts of downtown Manhattan apartments, ripe for the picking. Source: New report says Downtown's long-term future is bright from Downtown Express
