The Landmarked Belnord Will Soon Hold Condominiums
The Belnord
An Upper West Side rental residential building, The Belnord, will be getting Robert A.M Stern designed condos as it converts from rental units to condos.
In 1966, The Belnord was declared a New York City landmark and has since been known for its landscaped interior courtyard and gated entryway. In 2015, HFZ purchased the full-block apartment complex located at 209 West 87th Street from Extell for $575 million with plans to bring condos to the landmarked tower. HFZ predicted a sellout of $1.3 billion, making the average price just over $6 million for each apartment.
Since 2015, plans have slightly changed–95 of the 213 units will be converted into the planned condos during the first phase of development, while the rest will remain unrenovated for the time being. Because the building is an NYC landmark, it's 14-story height will most likely remain untouched, but the interior amenities will be completely renovated.
The condos are expected to be complete by Fall of 2017.
