Like it or not, Summer will soon be coming to an end. The next couple of weeks could be your last chance to enjoy your food alfresco, so we've made your search a little bit easier. Here are our top five restaurants for outdoor dining in the Upper West Side.

#1 Nougatine

Nougatine claims to be “the more casual sister of Jean-Georges,” but there’s nothing wrong with that. At Nougatine, you pretty much get the fantastic food you’d expect from a Jean-Georges restaurant, but without all of the glam. The menu at Nougatine is extensive, with exquisite and tempting options for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert. Popular choices include the scallop sashimi with chipotle mayo and crispy rice appetizer and the 28 day dry age ribeye for two with a crispy potatoes and herbal spinach entree. The world-class food at Nougatine is made better by its superb patio for outdoor dining in the Upper West Side.

#2 Land Thai

Land Thai owner and Chef, David Bank, was born and raised in Thailand and trained in the culinary arts by none other than Jean George Vongerichten, so you know when you go to Land Thai that you’re getting a truly incredible dining experience, all in a top restaurant for outdoor dining in the Upper West Side. A popular starter is the root vegetable spring rolls with parsnip, carrot, beet, lotus root, glass noodles and plum sauce. Specialties at Land include baked atlantic salmon with bean pasta, napa cabbage, snow pea, carrot with a caramel soy sauce, but of course, you can’t go wrong with their pad thai with shrimp.

#3 Jacob's Pickles

Don’t let the name fool you; this place serves more than just pickles, and easily makes the list of top restaurants for outdoor dining in the Upper West Side. The atmosphere at Jacob’s Pickles is authentically southern, with wooden tables, heavy duty silverware and mason jars for your beverages. Even more authentic is the food. Popular options include the turkey leg dinner with wine braised, Pennsylvania free-range turkey, mashed potatoes and homemade cranberry sauce and, of course, fried pickles with spicy red mayo.

#4 The Mermaid Inn

The Mermaid Inn is no stranger to us, as it already made our list for the East Village, and now we’re ranking it in the top five restaurants for outdoor dining in the Upper West Side. It’s the same deal uptown as it is downtown—the Mermaid Inn knows seafood. Popular starting options include the classic shrimp cocktail and half-dozen littleneck clams. Entrees range from mermaid fish tacos with beer batter, red cabbage, pickled jalapenos and pico de gallo and roasted rainbow trout with fingerling potatoes, asparagus, morel and braised bacon. Of course, you could always swing by their daily happy hour from 5:00-7:00 for drink and raw bar specials.

#5 Pier i Cafe

Pier i Cafe in the Upper West Side is serving American (Traditional) cuisine along the Hudson River. The food alone is good enough to spend an afternoon at Pier i Cafe, with options such as an Italian chicken wrap with roasted peppers, provolone and mozzarella cheese, greens and an herb dressing or the Mahi Taco with avocado, pineapple chutney, cabbage, flour tortilla and creamy cilantro. After your meal, you might not ever want to leave, as Pier i Cafe has breathtaking Hudson River views, which are best at sunset. Great food in a one-of-a-kind location lands Pier i Cafe as a top restaurant for outdoor dining in the Upper West Side.
