Modern Luxury Development to Replace Mid-Sized UWS Buildings

The Upper West Side has always been home to gorgeous brownstone townhouses, tree-lined streets, and brick mid-rise developments, but more modern additions have recently made their way into the classic neighborhood. A new building is set to rise in the area at West 72nd Street, between Broadway and West End Avenue, right next door to the popular grocery store chain, Trader Joe’s.

Sk Development has already filed plans for the new GreenbergFarrow-designed 219-foot tall condominium structure. It is one of many new condominium developments expected to come to the area in the next few years.

The 21-story tower will replace a few five-story buildings at 214 West 72nd Street, and bring about 20 new condominiums with 1,090 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Each floor will hold one apartment, which is estimated to average nearly 1,500 square feet each.

The new development is expected to hold the typical amenities found within a modern residential condominium, as of right now all that has been revealed is resident private bike storage and several recreation spaces on the second and third floors.

This tower will be located on the Upper West Side’s main artery road, Broadway, which holds endless outdoor seated restaurants, upscale bars, 24-hour grocery stores, movie theatres, nearby museums, numerous schools, and is a short walk to Central Park and the Hudson River.

Construction will begin in spring of 2018 and is expected to be complete by 2020.
