Strategic Hotels & Resorts Inc. purchased the Essex House for $362.3 million, resulting in an asking price of $685,000 per unit. The hotel will receive a new name, the JW Marriot Essex House New York, after an $18.3 million restoration.
Liam Gallagher, the Beady Eye singer best known for formerly headlining the rock band Oasis, has bought an apartment at the Jumeirah Essex House for $2.5 million. Gallagher, his wife Nicole Appleton and 11-year-old son Gene will be living in a two-bedroom condo on the 17th floor of this hotel-cum-residence building.
